THS Newsletter

Dear parents and students,

I hope you all had a restful and relaxing summer break.   We had a wonderful “Meet the Teacher” before school started, and I want to thank everyone that came to the high school.  We had a wonderful turn out of parents and students this year.  We have exceptional new teachers who have joined the high school staff, and I am excited that they are a part of our team.

Last week your child received the high school student handbook and important forms for the beginning of school that must be read, signed and returned this week.  Please make sure that your child has returned these forms today.  Please call if you have any questions or concerns.

I also want to encourage you to come out and support our Bears and Lady Bears this season.  This is always an exciting time as our boys and girls are preparing for a new season.

Please remember to check our high school web page for the daily announcements, events and my newsletter.  I want you to stay informed and up-to -date on daily events happening with your student.  Also, never hesitate to call and ask questions.  Our web site can be found at www.timpsonisd.com

Thank you,

 Mr. Lindgren

HARPO -- SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH

BITS BITS Logo.jpg

The BITS Logo is the creation of Middle Schoolers Kara Thorne and Makayla Baker.

The ‘bear’ that is used is the Bear portrayed in the Middle School Cafeteria with the cement block lines digitally removed.  The earth that is displayed is of the North American continent in prominent position with a star locating Timpson, Texas, as the bear takes in a conquering stance.  To the right of the bear is a rendition of the balloonsat package known as HARPO (High Altitude Research Photo Operation).  This package is explained in an information flyer that will soon be distributed.  To the bears left is the NS-1 designation signifying TISD’s first near space project (it is planned for other Near Space projects to be implemented annually).  Under the NS-1 is a constellation of stars that is called “the Great Bear”.  This real constellation is mostly in the Northern sky and is the 3rd largest constellation in the sky.  Inside ‘the Great Bear’ constellation is a smaller constellation (more correctly known as an asterism) which is the most famous constellation in all the world…the ‘Big Dipper.’  The Big Dipper makes up the rump and tail of the ‘Great Bear’ which is seen closest to the yellow trousers of the Timpson Bear in this logo.

Makayla and Kara hit it out of the ball park on this LOGO and it exudes with significance and pride on this project.

Timpson High School has received two Gold Star Ratings from TEA. They are:  Gold Performance Rating for Attendance/ATTD & Commended Social Studies.
