Timpson ISD Substitute Orientation/Training: December 3

Timpson ISD has scheduled a substitute orientation/training for Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 9 AM in the Central Administration Boardroom.

The training is required each year for those who are recurring substitute teachers or new applicants. If you have never been a substitute teacher at the district, you will need to fill out an application. The application may be obtained prior to the training date at the Central office. An applicant who has never substituted for a school district must be fingerprinted with a criminal background check done before being placed on the sub list.

When the applicant has completed training, his or her information is uploaded to TEA and he or she will receive an email giving information about getting the fingerprinting scheduled. The fee for the fingerprinting is the responsibility of the applicant. Timpson ISD appreciates our substitute teachers for their faithfulness to help our students.

For more details prior to training of if you have questions, you may call Sherri Strahan at 936/254-2463 Ext. 4100 or email at sstrahan@timpsonisd.com.

Timpson ISD Cell Phone & Electronic Device Policy

Texas passed HB 1481 that requires public schools to ban student cell phone use during the school day. Personal electronic devices, including cell phones, Smartwatches, tablets, pagers, Bluetooth headphones, or other electronic devices, can disrupt instruction and compromise academic integrity, safety, and student well-being. This policy sets clear expectations for NO CELL PHONES during the school day. Timpson ISD believes in providing a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment.

General Rules (All Grades) Devices should be left at home. If a device is brought, it must be powered off and stored in a zipped backpack for the entirety of the school day. This includes passing periods, lunch and in restrooms. Devices cannot be stored in clothing pockets on the student.

Emergency Phone Use:

Students may request phone access via the office or nurse. Parents should contact the front office during school hours.

Consequences for Violations 1st Violation: Confiscated, student picks up at end of day 2nd: Confiscated, parent/guardian picks up phone, parent/guardian meeting 3rd/4th: Student issued 3 days ISS 5th: Student issued 3 days ISS and is banned from bringing phone through the end of the year *Refusal to comply 1st time = insubordination - 3 days ISS; Refusal to comply 2nd time = DAEP

Parent Expectations Avoid texting/calling students during school. Contact the office for emergencies. Review this policy with your child.

Special Circumstances Students with medical/accessibility needs may get accommodations through ARD/504/RTI processes.

Timpson ISD is committed to following the law. Policy will be reviewed yearly with input from staff, parents, and students to ensure it reflects the values of the Timpson ISD community.
